We have just hosted the 13th Lonehill Fun Run thanks to Otter Estates. From its humble beginnings of just over 100 entrants, the event has grown to a field of 1000 +. A couple of years ago we increased the distance to 6.7km (ties in with the 67 minutes for Mandela Day) and renamed it the Otters 6.7km Challenge.
The event again received massive support from the Lonehill community and remains one of the most successful events on the Lonehill Calendar.
John Walland, our emcee, as always created a great vibe with his music and chatter. It was a beautiful warm afternoon and the atmosphere in the park was very festive.
The feedback from residents and sponsors has been very favourable and positive so here’s looking forward to the 14th one next year.
As always this event would not be possible without the support of our sponsors and volunteers we salute and thank Otter Estates for their continued support and financial contribution, Run Walk for Life for the marshals and safety advice and assistance on the route. , Lonehill Preparatory School for allowing us to use their premises to pack all the goody bags, the staff and children for helping us to pack them. The residents just loved the happy vibe they created at the same
God First Church for manning the second watering hole.
With over R30 000 worth of prizes there were many very lucky participants who walked away with fabulous prizes and everyone received a goody bag and those who took the challenge to register on-line before the 01 July received a Fun Run T-shirt.
We thank and acknowledge all our sponsors for your generous support with the fantastic prizes, products for the goody bags, drinks at the end and to the volunteers, staff of Otter Estates and the LRA, many thanks – here’s to next year!
