Brighton Buruuru is one of the two newly elected Directors to the LRA Board as of March 2020.
Brighton was born and raised in Zimbabwe where he studied computer science. He is married to Praise, and they are blessed with a daughter. Brighton and his family have lived in Lonehill for the past three years.
He works in IT in the Telecoms sector and enjoys that his role at work gives him the ability to serve his colleagues through designing and developing systems that enable them to serve their customers. Brighton plays the guitar to relax, he is a seasoned left-handed, self-taught guitarist. He also enjoys reading, running, and camping! He draws inspiration from people who are passionate about what they do, regardless of its societal status and admires Thabo Mbeki for his vision and strong values.
Having an impact on other people’s lives and spending time with his family is what makes him happy and he dislikes unfairness.
“Our community is our responsibility. Everyone has a role to play. I am glad to be part of the team” says Brighton.
The LRA would like to welcome Nadeem Abrahams who has taken up the post of Environmental Portfolio Manager as of 1 May 2020.
Nadeem was born in Cape Town and relocated to Johannesburg with his wife in 2014. They moved into Lonehill and have lived here ever since. He is passionate about cycling and being a father to two beautiful daughters who inspire him to discover the world one day at a time and to appreciate each moment just as they do. Nadeem’s adventurist nature took his wife and himself desert skiing in Dubai which he says is not as easy as it looks and he certainly had the bruises to prove it!
Nadeem loves seeing the community enjoying our open green spaces and parks and is looking forward to getting back to work and paying some attention to these areas which have not been maintained since lockdown.
He recently came across a post on Instagram which read, “Physical Distancing and Social Solidarity”, in response to the term “Social Distancing”. It aims to reshape the concept to be more inclusive and act as a reminder to consider all those around you. The community of Lonehill has always been a great example of exactly this and as we stand together through this unsure time, we should consider all those around us and stand united, ready to assist where needed and acting in a responsible manner.
