Diwali Celebrations 3 November

Happy Diwali

A very happy Diwali to all who celebrate this weekend! The LRA wishes you a fantastic light and love filled day and night with much joy and fulfillment.

What is Diwali about?

Diwali, the festival of lights, is one of the most important festivals for Hindus everywhere. It marks the beginning of the New Year and symbolizes a renewal of life.  Diwali is an occasion for enjoyment. People wear new clothes, have an oil bath and give sweets to each other. Firecrackers are lit before sunrise while people pray in temples. In every home, palace and place of business – doors, courtyards and porches are lit with twinkling lamps called diyas. Today, candles and electric lights are used as well.  Fireworks fill the night sky in celebration of “Light conquering darkness” and the triumph of good over evil.

Residents of Lonehill are encouraged to make the necessary arrangements for their pets on Sunday.  Please keep your dogs/cat indoors if they are sensitive to the sound of fireworks.  Alternatively, a mild sedative available at most vets can be given to your pets during this time.
