Yorkie killed in a Hit and Run

Yorkie killed in a Hit and Run

It is with sadness that I write this letter to the LRA in the hope that the three people involved will read my sentiments. On Heritage day , 24 September 2013 at about 08h30 my baby Yorkie got out under the entrance gate to my home in Forest Drive, Lonehill. Apparently a red car didn’t even break when approaching, knocking her over and drove off without stopping. It is so incredibly hard for me to fathom that there are such heartless, cruel and uncompassionate people that live in my community.

To the driver of that vehicle: Your actions are unacceptable. I appreciate that accidents do happen, but that baby Yorkie was my beautiful pet, she was like my child and brought such joy to my life and you don’t even have the common decency to do the right thing and stop to see if she was hurt or needed medical help, let alone locate her owner and offer your sympathies. Well you killed her. Whoever you are, I hope that in future you will think twice before hitting and running, take responsibility for your actions. You are human being, she was an innocent little dog, you ought to be ashamed of yourself. I can only hope that karma will prevail in this regard.

To the lady who witnessed the accident and rang my buzzer and to the lady jogging by who came to console me when I picked my little dogs lifeless body up off the road, in my devastation and shock I am not sure I even thanked you both for your kindness and compassion. I don’t know who you both are, but I am hoping that you will read this and know how grateful I am to you.

May Meeka RIP. She has left a gaping hole in my soul.
